Time is money, so quickly determining or confirming the weight of products or pallets being loaded or unloaded at warehouses, transportation hubs, construction sites and similar locations is quickly accomplished using a compact Kern HFC digital crane scale with remote readout.  This allows personnel to confirm weight against manifests when they are as far as 100 meters (328 feet) away from the crane scale.

Working as a tensile force gauge, Kern HFC crane scales available from Tovatech are offered in four maximum weigh capacities: 1000, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 kg.  Respective readouts are 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 grams.

Both the digital crane scale and remote hand-held display device are powered by rechargeable batteries for up to 30 hours of operation or by optional 3 x 1.5 volt AA batteries for up to 40 hours of operation.

The Kern digital crane scale display modules have an on-off switch and are furnished with a Velcro hand loop.  They feature a large 23mm backlit LCD display with a variety of control functions including on/off; weighing units in kg, pounds or Newton; a tare function, a hold function for the current weight, tolerance weighing, totalizing, and automatic switch-off.

The tolerance weighing function has a user-controlled audible signal that can be set to sound (1) if the weight is within the specified tolerances or (2) if outside the specified tolerances or (3) set to off.   Visual indications on the digital display will indicate OK, Hi or Lo adjacent to the actual load weight.

Similarly the hand-held terminal has an M+ key to activate the totalizing function that combines individual weighing values into the sum memory.  Totalizing requires the scale to be unloaded after each individual weighing procedure.

Carrying a 3-year warranty the Kern HFC crane scales conform to EN 13155 for non-fixed load lifting attachments and EN 61010-1 for electrical safety.  They come with a comprehensive instruction manual.

About Rachel Kohn

So how did an MIT Ph.D. end up selling refrigerators? When I figured out that a lot more scientists buy lab refrigerators than innovative leading-edge instruments. I hope that my many years of lab experience will help you find the right equipment for your work. Before co-founding Tovatech I worked in business development and project management at Smiths Detection, Photon-X, Cardinal Health, and Hoechst Celanese. And before that I spent 12 years as an R&D chemist at Hoechst Celanese and Aventis working on advanced drug delivery systems, polymer films and membranes, optical disks, and polysaccharides. Some day, eventually, I’ll make enough money to develop an innovative technology that will change the world. Read More
